Sadly I did not get a video of Owlet climbing onto the bed all by herself but look at this picture! She’s been trying to do this for at least a month now and she finally succeeded!
Owlet is currently a little under 9 months old, she’s been walking for almost a month. Babycenter tells us that babies will start to climb soon after they learn to walk (which is usually around twelve months). Welp, that’s true for Owlet! She started to try and climb up onto things about a week after she learned to walk, I let her. I wanted her muscles to develop and strengthen, I was always less than an arms length away. She’s been climbing up onto the foot tall toy box and attempting to climb over the wall of her play pen, but she hasn’t quite succeeded at that… yet…
Letting your child climb up the stairs or onto the bed will help to increase her coordination. As long as you’re there to prevent them from falling too far, climbing is a perfectly safe and healthy activity.
Update 11-12-15: Owlet can now climb down from the bed all by herself. She only face plants sometimes.
