Me! I am! The one that runs this blog! Hi, my name is Michaela, I’m a redhead and I love owls, so naming myself the Redheaded Owl seemed appropriate! I used to be a nanny but now I’m a work at home blogger and stay at home momma. I suck at keeping a schedule because sometimes I just want to nap with my daughter. I am an adventurer, a pretty great cook, a soon-to-be homeschooling mom, a girlfriend (hopefully wife, eventually… don’t tell Daddy Owl I said that), an off-and-on again exerciser, a crafter/sewer, and an introvert that loves bowling. You’ll find posts about all this and more, here at Redheaded Owl!
Who is Daddy Owl and Owlet?
Daddy Owl is my significant other and father of our daughter. He’s amazing and wonderful and I love him (feel free to throw up). Owlet is our first and only daughter. I talk about them a lot on here and they’re probably in 99.9% of my posts
Who is Kona?
Kona is our dog. She’s a husky mix and has waaaaaaaaay to much energy. But she is loving and pretty well trained, she listens 90% of the time! We also have a cat, Whitey who may be mentioned every now and again.
Redheaded Owl is filled with posts that are bluntly honest, unconventional, and helpful. Well… at least, I hope they are helpful.
On this blog you will find a segment called “Following Her Development” where I update you on Owlet’s development and how she compares to what professionals call average. You will also regularly find posts about my advice on issues you may run into with young children. I have worked in the childcare industry as a nanny, teachers aid, and daycare worker for 7 years and have the know how to help you out when it seems you are at the end of your rope.
We travel a lot and I post about our adventures. In the travel section of this blog you will find tips and tricks for traveling with kids as well as ideas for your next vacation! Right now we are stationary but big plans are being made, so stick around to find out what will happen!
You will regularly find posts about home/unschooling, recipes, and activities to do with your kids. My little girl is only 8 months old, so we haven’t officially started our homeschooling journey but I will post about lesson plans, curriculum (or lack there of), and other points in her learning when the time begins. I also cook almost every night for my family, do you know what that means? That means you get recipes that I have tried and tasted for you already! So you know they’re good! Along with being a wanna-be chef I am also a beginning sewer and craft lover. I will share my projects with you, in addition to tutorials for kids crafts and activities.
